SnagPulse ("we," "us," "our") operates snagpulse.com and publishes deal content across social media, newsletters, and other platforms. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
We believe in keeping things simple: we collect as little data as possible, we don't use tracking cookies for analytics, and we never sell your personal information.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): We recognize and honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will automatically treat it as an opt-out of non-essential cookies and tracking.
Information We Collect
Information you give us
- Email address - If you subscribe to our newsletter (hosted by Beehiiv) or sign up for a Ghost membership, we collect your email address.
- Payment information - If you purchase a paid Ghost membership ($2.99-$5.99/mo), payment is processed by Ghost's payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your credit card details.
- Deal submissions - If you submit a deal tip via our Telegram bot, we receive whatever information you include in your message.
Information collected automatically
- Analytics (Plausible) - We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across websites. Plausible collects only aggregate data like page views, referral sources, browser type, and country. No individual visitors are identified. Learn more at plausible.io/data-policy.
- Vote widget - When you vote on a deal, your vote is stored in your browser's localStorage. We may collect a hashed, anonymized version of your IP address solely to prevent vote manipulation. This hash cannot be used to identify you.
- Ghost functional data - Our blog platform (Ghost) may set functional cookies necessary for the site to work properly, such as session cookies for logged-in members.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not require you to create an account to browse deals.
- We do not use tracking cookies for analytics.
- We do not build advertising profiles about you.
- We do not use fingerprinting or other invasive tracking methods.
How We Use Your Information
- Newsletter delivery - Your email address is used to send you daily deal digests and occasional deal alerts through Beehiiv.
- Membership services - If you have a Ghost membership, your email is used to manage your account and provide early access to deals.
- Site improvement - Aggregate analytics from Plausible help us understand which deals and content are most useful.
- Preventing abuse - Hashed IP data helps us prevent vote manipulation on the deal voting widget.
Third-Party Services (Data Processors)
We work with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Ghost (ghost.org) - Blog hosting and membership management
- Beehiiv (beehiiv.com) - Newsletter hosting and delivery
- Plausible Analytics (plausible.io) - Privacy-focused, cookieless website analytics (self-hosted)
- Cloudflare (cloudflare.com) - CDN, DNS, and DDoS protection
- DigitalOcean (digitalocean.com) - Server hosting and object storage
- Anthropic (anthropic.com) - AI content generation (Claude). Deal descriptions and summaries may be processed through Anthropic's API. No personal user data is sent to Anthropic.
- Stripe (stripe.com) - Payment processing for paid memberships
- Affiliate networks - Amazon Associates, Impact (Walmart, Target, Home Depot), CJ Affiliate, Rakuten Advertising (Newegg), eBay Partner Network, and ShareASale. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or network may set their own cookies. Typical cookie durations: Amazon 24 hours, Impact 30 days, CJ 45 days, Rakuten 30 days, eBay 24 hours.
- Google AdSense - We display ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com.
AI Processing Disclosure
SnagPulse uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to assist in generating deal descriptions, content summaries, and video narration. All AI-generated content is reviewed before publication. No personal user data (email addresses, votes, membership information) is sent to the AI service. Only publicly available deal and product information is processed.
Lawful Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom, we process personal data under these lawful bases:

Data Retention
- Newsletter subscribers - We retain your email address until you unsubscribe. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Ghost members - Account data is retained until you cancel your membership and request deletion.
- Analytics data - Plausible retains aggregate analytics data. No personal data is stored.
- Vote data - Hashed IP data associated with votes is retained for up to 90 days, after which only the aggregate vote count remains.
Your Rights (GDPR - European Visitors)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have the right to:

- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data

Your Rights (CCPA/CPRA - California Residents)

The short version: we do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and our newsletter is not a "financial incentive" under CCPA (see below).
Newsletter and Financial Incentives (CCPA)
Our newsletter is free to subscribe to and free to unsubscribe from at any time. The deals we share in the newsletter are the same deals available on our public blog and social media channels. We do not offer different prices, discounts, or service levels based on whether you subscribe. Because subscribers receive no material benefit beyond convenience and do not give up anything by unsubscribing, our newsletter does not constitute a "financial incentive" under CCPA § 1798.125(b).
Children's Privacy
SnagPulse is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify newsletter subscribers via email.
